The University of Cincinnati Sheakley Indoor Practice Facility and Athletics Performance Center sets a design precedent across the nation and transforms the University’s athletic area.
Sportworks Design contributed to the transformation of Champions Way into a pedestrian-focused promenade, where hardscape elements reflect the rhythm of the adjacent football field through patterned concrete aligned with yard lines. The design addressed significant site grading challenges through integrated seat walls and lawn terraces, creating functional gathering spaces while maintaining visual continuity with the facility.
Close coordination with architectural and structural teams was essential to navigate site constraints, including limited structural depth and complex utility needs. A dedicated utility corridor was incorporated to support campus infrastructure, resulting in a cohesive, high-performing athletic environment.
