Fortress Obetz Field

Obetz, Ohio

Sportworks provided professional surveying and engineering services for a new $15 million, 6,500-seat athletic stadium that is home to the Ohio Aviators of Pro Rugby North America professional rugby team and the Ohio Machine professional lacrosse team. The stadium features six new video boards, luxury seating, concession stands, television cameras, and ample parking.

Appropriately named “Fortress Field,” attendees pass through a fortress of rehabbed shipping containers to enter the stadium. The Village of Obetz will also use the stadium for high school football playoffs, concerts, trade shows, and other athletic and entertainment events on this 50-acre complex.

The stadium is equipped with state-of-the-art synthetic turf that replicates a high-quality natural grass playing surface ideal for multiple sports. The system is designed to meet world rugby standards and includes a technologically advanced underlayment shock pad and separately designed turf fibers. Unlike many multipurpose fields, the turf will not be permanently lined for a particular sport.
