Xavier University Tennis Courts

Located in the bottom of a valley, the Xavier University tennis courts not only didn’t drain properly, but water pressure from beneath continually caused limestone deposits to push up through the asphalt, leaving stains. Sportworks Design created a unique solution—a capillary action barrier break—to stop the water from rising up under the courts. By using a course-graded stone and drains on either sides of the courts, water now flows through the stone to the drains before it ever reaches the asphalt. In addition, Sportworks also designed a tapered fence that allows spectators sitting on the hillside to comfortably view courts.
