Northern Kentucky University Soccer Stadium
Highland Heights, Kentucky
Sportworks provided the civil engineering and surveying for the design of the Northern Kentucky University Soccer Stadium to support NKU’s quest to upgrade their athletic facilities. The $6.5 million lighted synthetic turf soccer stadium included seating for 1,000 spectators, concession areas, locker room and training facilities and other associated uses. The synthetic turf field was to be constructed on uncontrolled and unclassified backfill that had been previously dumped into a ravine and was over 30 feet deep in some places. This required major regrading of the site to integrate the facility and a series of retain- ing walls were designed in coordination with the structural engineer to navigate the steep hillside.
